Njahi

Kenya

History:
Normally cooked when a child is born, when people go for the thanksgiving of a newborn baby. It is believed that Njahi are strong to the body, especially to the woman who has given birth.

It is also believed that Njahi does not give stomach problems, and that it is good food for the elderly.

Njahi is one of the most common foods in Knya and is believed to be high in nutrients.

Ingredients:
Njahi
Plantain (sweet bananas)
Salt to taste

Directions:
Boil the Njahi until cooked; add the plantain and boil until cooked. Add salt and mash all together until soft and completely mashed.
