Kpekpele

History:
Marriages are always looked upon as joyous occasions. All share the tradition of a gift of cattle to the bride’s family known as “Obola”.

The common feature very well known to all cultures of South Africa is the extravagant marriage feast offered to the guests. The favourite traditional dishes are served: meat, gravy and vegetables. The most important is Umunq’uchi. This dish is very important to South Africans because it signifies growth and production.

Kpekpele is eaten by all members of the community, especially the in-laws of the marriage couple.

Ingredients:
Maise
Groundnut
Zinguyu (type of beans)
Nyemba (type of beans)  

Directions:
All the ingredients are put in one pot. Add salt to taste, and boil.
