Current workshops and support

The following are some of the workshops and courses that we are currently running. If you would like more information, or to enrol on any of these, please all us on 020 8558 6811, or email us.

Parenting classes
This 12-week course will help parents get to grips with the health and education systems, so they can represent their children more effectively. It will also help parents to become more involved in their local community, and improve their employability.

The course will start in June, and will be run during the evenings at the Forest Community Centre in Leyton. Contact us for further information.

Maths and English sessions
AHEC runs free one-to-one tuition sessions in English and Maths for young people aged up to 16, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening at its offices in The Forest Community Centre, Leyton. Contact us to book a session.

World War I and II workshops
A series of workshops and an exhibition for schools across East London, with a focus on Africa’s involvement in the First and Second World Wars, funded by the Veterans Challenge Fund. Contact us for more information.

Advocacy and support
Need help or advice on dealing with housing, education, employment, health or any other welfare issue? AHEC offers free advice and help at any time – contact us for further details.

Health workshops
AHEC works with Waltham Forest Sickle Cell to deliver information and advice on HIV/AIDS, Sickle Cell and Thalasseima. For details of current workshops, contact us.

Activities and support for over 50s
AHEC runs a lunch club, workhops and support service for elderly people in the community – helping to build bridges between older and young generations. To find out more, please contact us.
