Workshop is a banging success!
Young
people from Newham, Waltham Forest and Hackney had the opportunity
to take part in a unique musical workshop in celebration of Black
History Month in November.
Students at secondary schools throughout the three boroughs took
part in the African Drumming workshop, which focused on the history
of African drumming, and how it provides the roots to some modern
music.
The young participants also had the opportunity to try Call and
Respond a method of communicating using drumming.
The participants at the Drumming Workshop really had fun, while
understanding African Drumming as an art of communication and
developing their personal skills in drumming, commented Pam Harris,
Head of Citizenship at Frederick Bremer School in Waltham Forest.
The pictures show students from Frederick Bremer School in Waltham
Forest practising Call and Respond techniques.
